Derby time: Lazio vs roma – preview

Writing a preview about the Rome derby it a very tough thing to do. When passion of this magnitude for one match is involved, there is little room for words.

Also, what is there to say that hasn`t been said so far in a derby preview?

For Lazio fans, this is a D-Day. Once the week leading to the derby starts, everything changes. This week was no different. I tried to come up with a more professional preview, but it is difficult task to write something else when derby it at stake. Emotions cannot be ignore.

For those who do not know: Roma won last 5 derbies, at least 2 of which without merit where Lazio was the best side and somehow managed to lose. Derby when we were leasing 1-0 after half time and when Floccari missed a penalty to make it 2-0 comes to mind. Tough defeat to swallow.

Going back to possible formations, it is with great relief to read today that Miro Klose will play the match after dealing with a knee issues for nearly 2 weeks now. As a consequence he missed both Germany matches.

Elsewhere, Reja still has some doubts if to start Biava or Stankevicous alongside Dias. Konko and Radu will start on the flanks. The other doubt concerns if to start with Mauri or Alvaro Gonzalez on the right side of the midfield. Rejas has still 48 hours to make up his mind. Brocchi and Ledesma will start in the middle and also Hernanes and Cisse.

To add more contradictions to this encounter, one Paolo Tagliavento was designated to officiate the match. Lazio lost the last 2 out of 3 derbies with him in charge – matches were a lot of suspicions remain still as to his calls.

I really hope this was not done intentionally.
