Injuries and suspension to cost us the CL spot?

How much I hate the title of this post. I was thinking another one, more suitable and one that might not sound so intimidating to our hopes of a Champions League spot for next season. But it is difficult to rephrase this meaning.

We are 4 matches to the conclusion of this season, 4 long weeks which starts with Juve visiting us at Olimpico, to continue with us visiting Udinese and then Genoa at home and ultimately a tricky visit to Lecce.

What concerns me most if the current state with injuries and yellow cards/suspensions at the most critical part of our season.

To remind you once again, Diakite and Radu are out of the season. Stendardo picked up a muscle injury last week and is ruled out at least against Juve. On the other hand, Biava and Dias are both a yellow card-shy from missing next match through suspension and can you imagine both of them picking yellow cards vs Juve and having to face Udinese away without them and no Radu, Diakite or Stendardo as replacements? What a frightening scenario.

In the middle, Stefano Mauri picked up a totally unnecessary red card after fouling Inter`s Nagatomo from behind and will miss both Juve and Udinese matches. Given the fact that he is one of the vital elements of our attacking plays, I can only hope that his absence shall not be felt and Gonzales or Sculli will be able to replace him with success. Of course, Matuzalem will return from 4 matches of suspension, but he really isn`t a replacement for Mauri.

The current situation mentioned above will most probably influence the way Lazio plays, in particular defenders. Maximum efforts must be made to not jeopardize the current situation when we are so close to reaching an objective none of us though was possible several months back.

The players know what they have to do. If they want it bad enough.

Indeed, there is no more room for mistakes!
