The team is off to England today to face Liverpool in the most high profile friendly of the summer. The match if scheduled for Friday, 8 August at 21;00 CET. Two days after, the team will face travel to Portugal for another serious friendly against Porto.
All players except for Cribari and Del Nero (injured) and Rocchi and De Silvestri (Olympics) are healthy and will travel with the team. This will be a clear indicator for Delio Rossi as to which formation he will be using in these friendlies: 3-5-2 used in the very beginning of the retreat at Auronzo or will opt with 4 at the back and more suitable (at least according to my opinion) 4-3-3 with Ledesma, Matuzalem and Dabo in the middle and Pandev, Zarate and perhaps Mauri up front.
Considering the strenth of Liverpool attack, this will be a very serious test for our defense. Torres, Keane, Kuyt and others are terrific strikers capable of giving hard time any defense in the world.
As for Porto is concerned, they are much more than a merely decent side. They are constant participators in the Champions League, a very talented and more than just a random friendly match.
And the third friendly is with Paok at Olimpico on August 12. This friendly will serve as an official team presentation before the fans.
As far as the mercato is concerned, nothing new to report these days. It appears Lotito tried to exchange Stendardo for Pele with Inter but the latter rejected the offer. If Stendardo leaves, than Romanian Moti will come immediately as this deal is pending Stendardo`s sale. Also, there is an extra midfielder wanted with Augusto Fernandez topping the wish list. If he manages to get a EU passport before the close of transfer deadlines (31 August) he will join us for sure.
